Skin rejuvenation

The 532 wavelength is well absorbed by hemoglobin in the blood and is traditionally used for coagulation of blood vessels and treatment of vascular and pigmented lesions on the skin. The same absorption mechanism is used to secure photorejuvenation of the skin.

The laser energy absorption heat the vessel walls, and the latter pass the heat out. Selective heating of dermal collagen (to 55C) stimulates special cells in the conjunctive tissue - desmocytes that actively begin to generate new collagen. So that the fading skin gets enriched with new collagen and elastin and resumes its fresh and youthful looks.

However, new collagen generation is a biochemical process, that takes certain time, and the results of treatment are not immediate. The course may take 3 to 6 treatments with up to 3 weeks in between.

Green laser penetrates through the upper skin layers and is well absorbed by blood hemoglobin. As a result, a great amount of heat is emitted inside the damaged blood vessel, which makes the blood clot and vessel inner walls collapse. Later on the vicious vessel attains conjunctive tissue, and the skin gets its natural color.

In real circumstances it is critical to consider the time of thermal relaxation of the vessel, that corresponds to a period of time required to transfer the heat out of the vessel. And this, before all, depends on vessel size. Too short pulses and too high energy settings can saturate the vessel with too much heat that will not have enough time to dissipate. The excessive heat and pressure can eventually break the vessel walls and end into microbleeding. 

Longer pulses allow to perform selective coagulation, when a gradual increase of the temperature of the vessel walls make them seal and disappear.  The pulse length should be longer than the vessel thermal relaxation time, but not excessive to keep too much heat from transferring to the neighboring dermis and avoid unwanted influences.
